Rafael Murillo Pelayo is our divemaster supremo when we’re diving in Loreto.

A Loretano by birth, Rafa has spent his life at sea, teaching divers the marvellous marine ecology off of Loreto’s shores. His love of nature, marine biology and scuba mixed with his easy, relaxed manner make it a joy to spend time with Rafa.

Here is a movie of mobula rays that he shot earlier this summer while diving. A skilled underwater photographer, many of his photos are found on this website.

Salvador Salum is an instructor who sometimes works with Rafa.

Originally from Mexico City, Sal moved to Loreto after travelling the globe for 4-years with his lovely wife Anna. A father of 3-months, Salvador has settled into a less frenetic lifestyle, purchased a small HD video camera and has started to shoot some of the wonderful aquatic life that blesses Loreto.

This is Sal’s first underwater shoot and he pulled it off fabulously.

Ocean Oasis is a fascinating journey into the bountiful seas and pristine deserts of two remarkably different, but inextricably linked worlds - Mexico's Sea of Cortès and the Baja California desert. Glide side-by-side with a graceful giant manta ray as it arches and swoops through water sparkling under the hot Baja California sun. Witness the pageant of migrating whales, the elaborate tango of courting terns, the battles of lumbering elephant seals. Fly over sweeping vistas of snow capped mountains, vast deserts, palm oases, and mangrove swamps - then plunge into astonishing underwater sequences of rarely seen marine life.
